Advair is an asthma treatment for people who suffer from allergies. The drug is effective for people who have intermittent inflammation.

Asthma sufferers never seem to get relief especially during allergy season. Asthma is a condition in which the lungs inflame and constrict. The obstruction in the airways causes wheezing, coughing, and breathlessness. Some asthma patients have severe allergic reactions to environmental allergens like pollen, dust, mold and animal dander. The allergy attacks can come and go depending on the seasons and the living conditions of the patient. Many sufferers have asthma treatments that are in the form of inhalers for emergency asthma attacks. Advair is a maintenance inhaler that is used twice a day.

How Does Advair Treat Asthma?

Advair is a medication that is used by patients with asthma as a preventative method for allergy or asthma attacks. Advair comes in a powdered inhaler that is used twice a day. The asthma treatment has fluticasone and salmeterol. Fluticasone is a steroid. Steroids help inhibit the release of asthma symptoms. When an allergen like dust enters the lungs, the immune system automatically starts producing cytokines, which are the chemicals used to cause inflammation and invoke the introduction of asthma attack immune cells. These cells cause the increase in mucous and “stickiness” of the air passages. This leads to a lot of the difficulty in breathing and wheezing that many patients experience with asthma attacks.

Another asthma treatment method provided by Advair is salmeterol. Salmeterol is a bronchodilator. When the tissue in the airways begins to constrict, the bronchioles become blocked. A bronchodilator relaxes the muscle and allows the tissue to expand. The asthma medication helps people breathe easier throughout the day without the typical coughing and wheezing most patients experience.

Asthma Treatments and Advair

Although Advair has an effective way to control and treat asthma, there are some side effects. If patients find that they have any type of severe reaction to Advair, they should immediately contact a physician to ensure their safety from any type of condition like anaphylactic shock. It’s important to note that Advair is only a preventative measure for asthma. Patients should not use Advair during a severe reaction. However, similar symptoms from allergic reactions are typical with Advail. For instance, some patients report that swelling in the throat or lips is common with allergy attack patients who are used to adverse reactions.

Allergy treatments are hard to find, but those patients who need regular asthma treatment throughout the day can benefit from Advair. Before deciding on any type of asthma treatment, consider consulting with a doctor before taking Advair.
